Customer Service Associate

Salary Range: $14.2500 To 14.2500 Hourly

Reports to: Customer Service Manager

 

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:

The primary objective of the Customer Service Associate is to provide a high level of service while assisting customers with questions, purchases, returns, packing, and carry out.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Greet customers, offer friendly, helpful service.
  • Provide accurate service and ensure the correct accounting of transactions by using correct prices, departments, and codes.
  • Answer questions about market products and services. Refer unresolved questions or problems to appropriate staff.
  • Receive payment in full for purchases; return accurate change.
  • Balance cash drawers at the end of the shift and complete readable, accurate day sheets.
  • Facilitate the movement of check-out lines by maintaining the department standards for speed.
  • Call for back-up as needed to ensure optimal customer service and smooth traffic flow.
  • Answer phone as needed and refer calls to appropriate staff.
  • Assist with price checks, carry-outs, shop backs, and returns.
  • Maintain Front End area in a clean, orderly condition by organizing carts and baskets, replenishing bags, maintaining register supplies, sweeping/mopping, picking up litter and emptying trash.
  • Complete daily and weekly cleaning tasks.
  • Follow security procedures. Ensure a safe working/shopping environment through awareness and proactive customer service and reporting suspicious activity the Manager on Duty.
  • Follow safe work habits by making the sales floor a safe and organized environment for customers and employees.
  • Follow and comply with Minnesota Department of Health procedures, including weights and measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices.
  • Consistently work to ensure timeliness, accuracy and service standards are achieved.
  • Effectively communicate with co-workers and management.
  • Adhere to North Market’s core values of Community, commitment, wellbeing service and excellence.
  • Perform additional tasks as required by the Customer Service Manager.

  • Daily contact with Customer Service Manager to ensure projected Department goals are being met.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

  • Demonstrated customer service skills, including ability to project friendly, outgoing presence.
  • Excellent communication skills and willingness to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to deliver information and guidance in a clear and concise manner to customers.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Must be able to sustain prolonged standing and walking on the sales floor.
  • Ability to frequently bend, twist, stoop, and crouch.
  • Ability to reach both high and low places with ease.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds repeatedly, up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to perform continuous fine work with hands.
  • Must be able to perform repetitive tasks for prolonged periods of time.
  • Must thrive in a team working environment.
  • Must be able to work in a cold environment for prolonged periods of time.

WORK SCHEDULE:

  • The work schedule will vary and include mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • As a 7:00 AM to 9:00PM, 7 days a week operation, Saturday and Sundays are considered part of the work week.
